Lack of innovation clouds Samsung’s future?

I happened to read an interesting article about Samsung, as always, if I post something here, I want to share it…
The article writes that Lee Kun-hee’ (the former chairman of Samsung Electronics who has a powerful reputation as an oracle within South Korean business circles) pronouncements this month sent shivers down many spines in Seoul.
“Samsung was just like a corner shop 10 years ago, a fifth the size of what it is now,” he was quoted as saying by Korean newspapers at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. “If …

Brits for the iPad

The Independent on Sunday writes that, according to retail price comparison service InvisibleHand, Apple’s unveiling of its iPad has piqued the interest of British shoppers. It found that on the day that Apple presented the iPad – which has many of the functions of a laptop as well as the iPhone – to the world’s press, 5 per cent of total internet searches in the UK for retail goods were for the new product.

So the study says that money does make us happier but there’s just one problem: while millionaires and billionaires have a good stab at looking very happy (bankers are excluded as they were apparently always unhappy …

Polish companies do not *use* Internet?!

Well, most of us probably know that Poland is one of the very few countries that do not do *very* bad in the financial crisis. Today, I happened to read a very shocking article about how Polish companies do not seem to take advantage of Internet… and eBusiness technologies.
Namely, Polish newspaper ‘Gazeta Wyborcza’ published research results that say the following : ‘71% of firms in Poland use email for business purposes, 80% uses the internet and only 47% has their own www sites. It has also revealed that only 45% …

Copyrights -vs- innovation?

We have all heard the issues of copyrights in the Internet. Everything is available for everybody and very easily copyable. Who hasn’t listened to a song or watched a video on YouTube? It is obvious that the old systems and copyright laws do not work very well anymore.
Washington Internet Daily published an article about the issue. Quoting the article: “Companies are developing new business models for distributing content in an online world, industry executives said Wednesday at a U.S. Chamber of Commerce event.“  The main point seems to have brought …
